ATA International Announces New Accreditation for Songahm Taekwondo Instructor Program
LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS (November 17, 2022) –ATA International is pleased to announce that Lee College, accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), offers the Songahm Taekwondo program. The SACSCOC is the body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. Its mission is to assure educational quality and improve the effectiveness of its member institutions.
What does the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) accreditation mean for the ATA?
The Songahm Taekwondo Instructor (STI) program offers an Associate of Applied Science degree that is recognized and accepted by all other accredited U.S. institutions of higher education. SACSCOC is one of the four regional accreditation bodies (SACSCOC, NWCCU, NECHE, and MSCHE) that provide the most widely recognized form of university accreditation in the United States. This accreditation means that the degree is transferrable to any other regionally accredited school. A student may take their two-year degree, provided that they are core complete, and transfer to a four-year institution to complete their bachelor’s degree.
Accreditation also allows a student to use all forms of financial aid available to them. U.S. military men and women may use their veteran affairs benefits, and others may use federal, state, and local financial aid (scholarships and grants). This will truly make Songahm Taekwondo available to the world of higher education.
