Teaching Special Abilities: Skills, Guidelines & Practical Application

Open to: All ATA Members; 13 years and older
Description: Teaching students with special abilities requires more than good intentions. It requires knowledge, adaptability, confidence, and practical experience. This training is designed to help instructors and Legacy Team members develop effective strategies for working with individuals who have a wide range of physical, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs. Participants will learn how to adapt instruction while maintaining high expectations, create an environment where students can succeed, and build confidence and comfort when teaching students with diverse abilities. Topics include practical teaching drills, adaptation strategies, graduation and rank advancement guidelines, recognizing and responding to dysregulation, and understanding the balance between ensuring safety and avoiding unnecessary limitations on student achievement. Through discussion, hands-on activities, and real-world scenarios, instructors will gain tools they can immediately apply in their schools to create meaningful opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and succeed.

Kickboxing Fundamentals: Skills, Combinations & Live Application
Instructors: Senior Master Aaron Lee & Master Jordan Howard
Open to: All ATA Members; 13 years and older
Description: We're excited to provide this new training opportunity at Spring Nationals! Designed for students looking to challenge themselves and expand their striking skills, this seminar focuses on the fundamentals of kickboxing in a fun, energetic, and supportive environment. Participants will develop proper punching mechanics, offensive combinations, defensive movements, and footwork through a structured progression that culminates in controlled, friendly sparring. Whether you're new to kickboxing or looking to sharpen your skills, this seminar will help you build confidence, develop a more resilient mindset, and experience the satisfaction that comes from training hard and applying what you've learned in a live setting.
Required equipment includes boxing gloves, Muay Thai/Kickboxing shin guards or ATA Pro Line Foot & Shin Guards, a mouthpiece, and a protective cup (required for sparring). Come ready to work hard, have fun, and discover why you'll want to come back for the next one!

This seminar will review all current updates to the Black Belt Weapons forms while providing valuable insight into exactly what judges should be looking for during both testing and competition. Strengthen your knowledge, sharpen your judging eye, and leave better prepared to train, evaluate, and develop Black Belt competitors with confidence.

Back To Basics: The Martial Arts Business Fundamentals
Instructors: Chief Master Gonzalo Cabrera & Senior Master Chong Sul

Description: Back to Basics is a practical four-hour workshop for martial arts clubs and schools at every stage—from startups building a strong foundation to established schools refreshing the systems that drive growth.
Chief Master Cabrera will share proven systems from the Winners for Life Playbook, while Senior Master Sul will present strategies from KA’s Business Playbook, including methods that helped KA become the largest ATA school network.
Participants will receive ready-to-use scripts, monthly planning worksheets, and training guides designed to improve execution and build consistency among staff.
Part 1 — Creating an Exciting Product
Learn how instructor enthusiasm, student engagement, Life Skills, challenge, and success work together to create high-energy classes and an experience that goes beyond teaching martial arts.
Part 2 — Planning Your Marketing Strategy
Develop a monthly plan for recruiting new white belts through digital marketing, community outreach, and in-house referral activities. Use proven worksheets to organize responsibilities and keep your team consistent.
Part 3 — Converting Leads into New Members
Learn a repeatable, script-based enrollment process including a phone script. The scripts will focus on responding to leads and conducting the Personal Analysis, to presenting the Intro Class, explaining tuition, handling objections, and asking for the enrollment.
Part 4 — Action-Planning Work Session
Evaluate your current product, marketing, and sales systems, identify opportunities for improvement, and create clear next steps for your school. Leave with proven strategies, practical tools, and staff-training resources you can begin using immediately.

We understand that Creative, Xtreme, Team Demo, and Team Sync divisions can feel overwhelming with the rapid evolution of tricks, synchronization, creativity, and performance skills competitors are bringing to the floor. We’re thrilled to provide a comprehensive understanding of what to look for in each division and how to confidently evaluate both individual and team performances. Through live demonstrations by the ATA MAX Pro Team, we’ll break down the crucial distinctions in tricks, transitions, synchronization, musicality, teamwork, creativity, and overall presentation. From understanding how to properly assess difficulty and execution in Creative and Xtreme competition to evaluating timing, precision, staging, and cohesion in Team Demo and Team Sync Forms/Weapons, this seminar is designed to sharpen your eye and strengthen your confidence as a judge.
